Adam Levine may sing about “Maps,” but on Monday, June 23, he joked about his unconventional route to fiancee Behati Prinsloo.
“It was JDate,” the Maroon 5 frontman, who is Jewish, quipped to Live! With Kelly & Michael’s Michael Strahan and guest host Beth Behrs. “No, it was most certainly not JDate. It was Farmers Only!”
Though The Voice judge, 35, started off joking, he admitted that the actual proposal was terrifying.
“It doesn’t matter how certain you think you are,” he said. “You still get down on that knee, and you get woozy, and you’re like, ‘I’m doing this, oh my god.’ You can’t be confident about it. I’m a confident person, but I got on that knee and everything changed immediately. I lost my equilibrium. I had to get on the other one.”
The Begin Again star is known for cranking up the charm on the ladies (and best pal Blake Shelton), but when it came to the most important question of his life, all of Levine’s smoothness went out the window.
“I had nothing,” he admitted. “I usually have some charming thing to say. I remember one thing about it. I did say at one point ‘Both knees! Look I got on both knees!’ And it didn’t sound charming at all.”
Levine proposed to the Victoria’s Secret model, 25, in July 2013, just weeks after he was spotted out with Sports Illustrated cover girl Nina Agdal. Us Weekly exclusively reported that the pop rocker is doing his best to make amends with his bombshell exes before his July wedding with the Namibian beauty.
“He apologized for how he treated them,” an insider told Us on Levine’s attempts. But another source aded, “They could care less he wants to make it right.”
