Brad Pitt met up with his 15-year-old son, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, on Wednesday, October 19, amid his contentious custody battle with estranged wife Angelina Jolie, Us Weekly can confirm.
This is the first time that the Fight Club actor, 52, has seen Maddox since he and the teen argued during a September 14 fight on the former couple’s private plane. A source previously told Us that the episode prompted Jolie “to act and file” for divorce from Pitt. She filed official documents on September 19, citing irreconcilable differences.
As exclusively reported in the new issue of Us Weekly, Pitt reunited with his five other children, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, on October 8.
A source told Us that the kids underwent therapy for an entire month before they could visit their dad. As a Pitt insider explained, “He wanted to make sure the meeting would be the most productive for the kids.”
Maddox — who was adopted by Jolie in 2002, before she and Pitt got together — refused to attend the meeting at one of the L.A.-area homes Brangelina once shared.
“He chose not to go and stayed with Angie,” a Jolie confidante told Us. (Because he is older than 14, by California law he can decide which parent he would prefer to live with.)
“He doesn’t really see himself as Brad’s son,” another source told Us of the Cambodia native, who was legally adopted by Pitt in 2006, four years after Jolie adopted him on her own.
