Angelina Jolie has some seriously impressive understudies. As previously reported, the Oscar-winning actress, 39, was unable to attend the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie Unbroken, but Brad Pitt and three of the couple’s six children went in her place.
Jolie, who completed her sophomore directorial effort with Unbroken, is suffering from the chickenpox. Pitt, 50, represented his new wife well at Monday’s soirée after previously stepping in for her at an earlier promotional event on Sunday, Dec. 14. The Fury star, who quietly wed Jolie this past August, hit the red carpet at L.A.’s Dolby Theater with his children Maddox, Pax, and Shiloh, as well as his parents, Jane and Will Pitt.
The famous brood looked adorable as they posed for pictures alongside stars such as Lolo Jones, Kirsten Dunst, Garrett Hedlund, and NBA star Jason Collins.
“It was a family night out and you could tell the movie meant so much to both Brad and Angelina for them all to be there and support her,” an onlooker tells Us Weekly. “You could tell how important it was for him to be there to promote the movie. Brad tried to make the experience as relaxed and easy as possible for the kids. He stayed on the carpet to do interviews solo and the kids walked away.”
Pitt then took Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, and Shiloh, 8, inside the theater, picking up a bag of popcorn for the showing, which he was seen chowing down on as he sat. The star and his family members listened on as a producer for the film gave a speech about Jolie before the lights dimmed. “You will see every ounce of her blood, sweat, and tears in the film,” he said as the audience burst into applause, Pitt included.
After taking in the speeches and the sights, the Jolie-Pitt kids were led out of the theater by Pitt, an insider tells Us, explaining that the R-rated film was too mature for the children.
“He was super attentive to his kids,” the onlooker adds. “They were such an adorable family.”
