Surprise! Donald Glover and his girlfriend welcomed their first child together earlier this year, an insider confirms exclusively to Us Weekly.
The Atlanta actor, 33, and his unidentified partner first caused fans to speculate that they were expecting a little bundle of joy when she was spotted with a baby bump at a grocery store in Hawaii with Glover in January.
In May, the superprivate couple headed out together in New York City, where she was seen pushing the baby in a stroller.
Glover is best known for his roles as Earnest Marks on FX’s Atlanta and Troy Barnes on NBC’s Community. He also previously worked as a writer on 30 Rock for three years, in addition to his megasuccessful career as a Grammy-nominated rapper under the alter ego Childish Gambino.
The actor — who grew up in Stone Mountain, Georgia, where he was raised a Jehovah’s Witness — created, executive produces and stars in Atlanta, which premiered September 6 and has since been renewed for a second season.
The FX comedy follows a Princeton University dropout and his aspiring rapper cousin, Alfred “Paper Boi” Miles, as they try to navigate their way in the Atlanta rap scene.
“Atlanta is a Trojan horse,” Glover told Time magazine in August. “The thesis was: How do we make people feel black? It turned into something more attainable than that, but that was the idea. I was like, ‘Let’s make something that shouldn’t be on the air, something controversial.’ If it’s canceled in 10 episodes, I’ll be happy with those episodes.”
As Glover’s career in TV and music progresses, he’s become more private, at one point wiping his Twitter and Instagram accounts of all posts, save for the Atlanta trailer.
“A lot of people don’t understand me, which is good,” the new dad told New York Magazine in August. “I don’t give a f–k.”
