Iggy Azalea just got real. The “Black Widow” singer, 25, admitted during an interview with Schön! Magazine that she canceled her 2015 Great Escape tour last year because she couldn’t deal.
“I had to have a psychotic breakdown last year,” Azalea told the mag. “I felt tired and stressed out.”
The singer was set to perform throughout the United States and Canada beginning in April. Azalea’s team then pushed the tour back to September before canceling it entirely.
In June 2015, the “Fancy” singer told Seventeen magazine it was because she had a “different creative change of heart.” While chatting with Schön! Magazine, Azalea admitted that she really just needed a break from the spotlight.
“Last year, I felt like I was definitely not in control of the media’s narrative of me,” explained the controversial star, who has gotten into her fair share of Twitter feuds. “It made me feel very out of control of my own life or my ability to have my own perception of who I was. You don’t want someone else writing your narrative and making you the villain. Then I just realized that, you know what, you can’t control it and I think I accepted that and moved on to living my life.”
Azalea famously feuded with Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj last year. She blamed Spears for their song “Pretty Girls” flopping, and Minaj hinted the singer doesn’t write her own material while accepting Best Female Hip-Hop Artist during the BET awards.
Azalea, however, still doesn’t know how she’ll embark on a tour and move forward with her engagement to basketball player Nick Young.
“See? It’s too much stuff! I’ve got to have a wedding and go on a f–king honeymoon and … put on an arena tour, all across the whole world,” she mused to the mag.
