Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea, born with the name Amethyst Amelia Kelly in Sydney, Australia, moved to Miami, FL at the age of 16. In September 2011 the rapper and songwriter released her first mixtape, Ignorant Art, and aligned herself with T.I. and his record label.

The Australian musician released her debut studio album, The New Classic, in April 2014. The album had numerous chart-topping singles, the most notable being “Change Your Life” featuring T.I. and “Fancy” featuring Charli XCX.

“Fancy” reached no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the same week that Ariana Grande‘s single “Problem,” featuring Azalea rose to No. 2.

The rapper received four nominations at the 2015 Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and Record of the Year.

Azalea has been romantically linked to rapper ASAP Rocky and Los Angeles Lakers player Nick Young.

In June 2020, Azalea announced she had given birth to a son, Onyx, whom she shares with ex Playboi Carti. That October, she released a statement saying, “I’m raising my son alone & I’m not in a relationship.” Later in December, Azalea revealed that Carti had cheated on her and missed their son’s birth. He later refused to sign their son’s birth certificate. In 2022, she said they had no direct contact as coparents.
