Talk about a throwback. Hours ahead of the premiere of The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story on Tuesday, February 2, a vintage clip from 1995 of Kris Jenner and then-husband Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Bruce), resurfaced on the Internet.
In the clip, Kris tells Good Morning America’s Bill Ritter that O.J. Simpson called her from jail, claiming he didn’t murder his ex-wife and Kris’ best friend, Nicole Simpson Brown, in June 1994.
“I’ve talked to him a few times, he called me from jail … he wanted to talk to me, I’ve known him for 20 years,” Kris told Ritter, adding that Simpson, unprompted, told her, “I didn’t do it.”
“I asked a lot of questions. It was so early on [in the case] and I just listened to him, and I think he listened to me because I think there was a fondness we had for each other … we were friends,” Kris, who divorced Simpson’s lawyer Robert Kardashian in 1991, added during the interview.
Caitlyn, who was known at the time for being an Olympic gold medalist, also weighed in on the former NFL player.
“What’d we learn from it? I think you have to find out a lot more about your friends,” Caitlyn said. “Sometimes you just don’t know what’s going on behind closed doors.”
