Four generations on one stamp! In an adorable new portrait, Prince George poses with the three older generations of direct heirs to the British throne: Queen Elizabeth, her son Prince Charles, and his son (and George’s dad) Prince William.
Holding onto his father’s hand, George stands tall on a stack of foam blocks and shows off a huge smile in a photo taken in summer of 2015 for a new stamp to mark the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II on April 21. To the left of George is his great-grandmother and grandfather.
Photographed by Ranald Mackechnie in the White Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace, the 2-year-old is wearing his signature knee socks, a white button-up and blue shorts. This is the first time the tiny prince has appeared on a stamp.
The Royal Mail released the four commemorative first-class stamps on a single sheet, with one royal on each stamp.
Prince William and wife Kate Middleton recently returned home to George and daughter Princess Charlotte, 11 months, after their royal tour of India and Bhutan. When asked why the littles ones didn’t join them on the six-day excursion, the Duchess of Cambridge, 34, said, “Because George is too naughty. He would be running all over the place.” The couple also revealed they missed the kids “massively” while they were apart and were looking forward to reuniting with them.
