Whitney Houston's life was famously chaotic up until her Feb. 11 death at age 48: A long history of substance abuse, final days spent partying in Hollywood with her daughter Bobbi Kristina at her side and her long-waning singing career.
But according to her closest confidante and sister-in-law, Patricia Houston, the "Greatest Love of All" singer's biggest problem was actually her love life.
In a Sunday interview with Oprah Winfrey on Oprah's Next Chapter, Patricia tells Winfrey she certainly had premonitions of an early death for the star. "The handwriting was kind of on the wall. I would be kidding myself to say otherwise."
But, Patricia said, before Houston's shocking demise, "things were changing, things were really changing" for the Grammy winner, who entered rehab as recently as May 2011. What worried her most during Whitney's final days?
"It wasn't about substance abuse relative to the latter days or anything like that. I was afraid for other things…lifestyle [things]."
When asked to clarify, she explained, without naming names: "I saw her chasing a dream–looking for love in all the wrong places."
After finally divorcing Bobby Brown in 2007 after 15 years of marriage, Houston dated singer Ray J off-and-on up until her death, and the pair were seen cuddling and partying at Tru nightclub two nights before her death.
"What my heart feels cannot be expressed in words," Ray J, 31, said days after Houston's demise. "The world lost an icon, but I lost my close friend. Nippy, I miss you so much! You were so happy and full of love. Your smile will live in my heart forever."
