Five-time Dancing With the Stars winner Derek Hough won’t be returning to the popular ABC competition dance series come spring, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be dancing. The Emmy-winning choreographer, 29, will be taking the stage at Radio City Music Hall for the upcoming new show, the New York Spring Spectacular.
The Harvey Weinstein-produced performance will start in March, Deadline reports. Also appearing in the Rockettes production is Nashville star Laura Benanti, and several characters will be voiced by Whoopi Goldberg and teen star Bella Thorne.
So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Mia Michaels has choreographed the show’s first number. According to Deadline, Hough will play the male lead who is promised “an eternal reward if he’s able to help a New York City tour guide whose job is threatened when Laura Benanti’s character reveals her plan to take the tour company virtual.”
The show will run for seven weeks from March to May, around the same time Dancing With the Stars’ 20th season will be airing.
