Derek Hough

Derek Hough is a professional dancer, choreographer and television personality best known for his work on Dancing With the Stars. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Hough is one of five siblings, including sister Julianne Hough. At age 12, he moved to London to study dance at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, where he trained in ballroom, tap, jazz and gymnastics.

Hough joined Dancing With the Stars in 2007 during season 5. He went on to win a record six mirrorball trophies, competing with celebrity partners like Jennifer Grey, Amy Purdy and Bindi Irwin. After stepping away from competing in 2016, he returned as a judge in 2020. He has also served as a judge on World of Dance and starred in the NBC special Holidays with the Houghs. He began his Las Vegas residency, Derek Hough: No Limit, in 2021. He became the host of Extra in season 32.

In addition to television, Hough has appeared on stage and in film, including Make Your Move (2013) and Hairspray Live! (2016). He has won multiple Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography.

Hough began dating former DWTS troupe dancer Hayley Erbert in 2015, and the two tied the knot in 2023. They announced they were expecting their first child in July 2025.
