Valentin Chmerkovskiy is Ukrainian-American professional dancer, choreographer, and television personality best known for his appearances on the popular dance competition show Dancing with the Stars, where he has been a cast member since 2011. He was born on March 24, 1986 in Ukraine before moving to the US with his family in 1994.

Val, whose brother Maksim is also a professional on Dancing with the Stars, has won the competition three times. Over the course of the show, Chmerkovskiy has danced with a number of celebrities, including Zendaya, Normani, Olivia Jade, and Rumer Willis. Outside of his television career, Val co-owns nine dance studios throughout the US.

Chmerkovskiy started dating fellow DWTS pro Jenna Johnson in 2015, and the two dated on and off before becoming engaged in 2018. The couple married in April 2019, and had their first son, Rome, in January 2023.
