Do-Re-Mi for Gaga! Recently engaged Lady Gaga performed an impeccable medley from The Sound of Music at the 87th Academy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Dolby Theatre in L.A.
The songstress took to the stage singing a medley of songs including "The Hills Are Alive," "Edelweiss," and "Climb Ev'ry Mountain." As Us Weekly previously reported, "My Favorite Things" was also a part of Gaga's presentation — her first official performance since her engagement to actor Taylor Kinney on Valentine's Day.
Gaga sparkled as she displayed her musical chops, belting tunes from the beloved film as she captivated the entire Dolby Theatre audience, including none other than Julie Andrews. The Sound of Music original star walked out on stage prior to presenting the award for Best Original Score, and thanked "dear Lady Gaga" for her sweet rendition. "It really warmed my heart, it really did," Andrews told the crowd.
Ahead of her performance, Gaga shared several behind-the-scenes photos of herself prepping for her big moment at the 2015 Oscars. "Rehearsal is a beautiful sacred space for the performer," the songstress, 28, wrote on Instagram this past week. "To go deeper and deeper. So excited for Sunday. #Oscars."
She also shared a photo with Academy CEO Dawn Hudson, who stopped by one of Gaga's rehearsals this week to support the singer. "It was such a wonderful surprise," Gaga wrote alongside a selfie with the executive. "And I am so grateful for her support and the love of Craig and Neil during this beautiful process. it's going to be an amazing show!"
More than anything, Gaga said she was looking forward to sharing her work with the world's biggest film stars and the millions of viewers worldwide who will be tuning in to the show.
