Once upon a time, Anna Kendrick, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine, and Meryl Streep got together in a fairy tale of epic proportions. The acclaimed actors teamed up for the upcoming Into the Woods adaptation, and Disney released a new trailer for the film on Thursday, Nov. 6.
The latest peek at the big-screen take on Stephen Sondheim‘s Broadway musical opens with a shot of Kendrick as Cinderella, leading newcomers Lilla Crawford as Little Red Riding Hood and Daniel Huttlestone as Jack, and finally Blunt as The Baker’s Wife with her husband The Baker, played by James Corden, as they sing “I Wish.”
Streep makes her grand entrance as The Witch who raised Rapunzel, bargaining with the Baker and his wife to remove a curse in exchange for a cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn, and a slipper as pure as gold. She then steals the show, singing her big number, “Stay With Me.”
As the Baker and the Baker’s Wife head into the woods to seek out the The Witch’s desires, the couple encounters one famed fairy tale character after another, including Depp as The Wolf and Pine as Cinderella’s Prince. He woos Cinderella before she questions his intentions.
“If you love me, why did you stray?” Cinderella asks, to which the Prince shoots back, “I was raised to be charming, not sincere.”
