No such thing as “Too Much” Spice Girls! On Wednesday, December 16, Melanie C (aka Sporty Spice) gave fans a special treat when she performed the girl group’s hit 1997 tune “Too Much” on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show for BBC Radio.
Her acoustic breakdown of the sassy ballad showed off the singer’s raw vocals on the tune that opened the group’s 1997 film Spice World. And though it’s been 18 years since the song was released, Sporty Spice, 41, didn’t sound like she’d aged a day!
The now-solo singer-songwriter, whose real name is Melanie Chisholm, hasn’t stopped producing her own music since the Spice Girls split in 2000. She did appear with her bandmates for the closing ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012.
There’s also been recent talk of another Spice Girls reunion between Mel C, Mel B, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, and Geri Halliwell. In September, Melanie Brown (aka Scary Spice) told Meredith Vieira, “There’s nothing to really spill because nothing has been announced, nothing’s official. I mean, yes, we are in talks because it’s our 20th anniversary. And I want something to happen. I’m forcing them a little bit, but yeah. I’ve been saying it for five years, ‘We are reuniting. We are, aren’t we?’”
