Melanie Chisholm

Melanie Chisholm is an English singer, songwriter and actress best known as Sporty Spice from the Spice Girls. Chisholm was raised in Whiston, England, and studied at the Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts before leaving to pursue music full-time.

In 1994, she auditioned for and was selected as one of the five members of the Spice Girls alongside Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Geri Halliwell. The group’s debut single, 1996’s “Wannabe,” became a global hit, and their first album, Spice (1996), went multiplatinum. Chisholm was known for her athletic style and powerful vocals, contributing to the group’s success through their albums Spiceworld (1997) and Forever (2000).

Following the group’s initial split, she launched a solo career with her debut album, Northern Star, in 1999. The album produced several hit singles and earned her Brit Award nominations. She went on to release multiple solo albums, including Reason (2003), Beautiful Intentions (2005) and Melanie C (2020). The Spice Girls have reunited multiple times for tours and performances, including at the 2012 London Olympics.

Chisholm was in a long-term relationship with property developer Thomas Starr from 2002 to 2012. The pair welcomed daughter Scarlet in 2009. Chisholm started dating model Chris Dingwall in 2024.
