Now that’s a proud partner! Following Lady Gaga‘s unexpected win at the 2016 Golden Globes on Sunday, January 10, her fiancé, Taylor Kinney, was fully supportive of the American Horror Story: Hotel actress in an exclusive interview with Us.
“Are you kidding?” the Chicago Fire star, 34, gushed to Us of her win at NBCUniversal’s afterparty on the Beverly Hilton rooftop. “I’m so proud! Proud of my girl.”
Gaga took home the Globe at the 73rd annual show for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or TV Motion Picture for her role as the Countess in AHS: Hotel. For her first major acting victory, the “Just Dance” singer, 29, beat out tough competitors in her category including Felicity Huffman (American Crime), Kirsten Dunst (Fargo), Queen Latifah (Bessie) and Sarah Hay (Flesh and Bone).
“I feel like Cher in that John Patrick Shanley film Moonstruck right now,” said Gaga, who also went viral after bumping into a reactive Leonardo DiCaprio on her way up to the stage. “This is one of the greatest moments of my life.”
While she thanked AHS creator Ryan Murphy in her speech, the shocked star completely omitted her fiancé of nearly one year, Kinney.
After the surprise subsided, she made up for the blunder hours later on Instagram. Posting a photo of herself holding the Globe, the star wrote: “I am so grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press. Thank you Taylor for being right there for me the whole way through. Monsters, never lose hope in yourself. This is for my brilliant manager @wanaynay Staying in the fight is the true test. Never give up on your dreams.”
The couple got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2015. Watch her speech in the video above!
