Minx
Minx is a comedy series that premiered on Max in March 2022. Set in the 1970s, the show followed an unlikely partnership between an earnest feminist and a slick magazine publisher. The show starred Ophelia Lovibond as Joyce, a writer with dreams of launching a feminist publication and Jake Johnson as Doug, a publisher who convinces her to create an erotic men’s magazine with a progressive twist. The series explores the clash of ideals as they navigate the world of 1970s media. Idara Victor and Lennon Parham also starred.
Max canceled the show in December 2022 after season 2 was already in production. Starz picked up the rights to the series, airing the second season in July 2023 — right as the SAG-AFTRA strike started, leaving the cast unable to promote the show without crossing the picket line. The cable network did not renew Minx for a third season.
