The Apprentice
NBC’s The Apprentice is a reality series featuring a group of contestants vying to earn a place in one of the organizations run by the host, Donald Trump.
Contestants live in a communal penthouse suite and are divided into two teams. Each week, the teams are assigned a task and have to come up with a business plan to present to a panel consisting of the host and two advisors. The winning team is rewarded by the panel, but at least one member of the losing team gets “fired” and eliminated from the show. The overall winner earns a one-year starting contract worth $250,000 to manage a business project offered by the host.
In 2015, Donald Trump was replaced as host by Arnold Schwarzenegger for the 15th and final season. Trump was fired by the network after making controversial remarks during the announcement of his 2016 presidential campaign. The Apprentice concluded in 2017 and spawned spinoffs The Celebrity Apprentice, The Apprentice: Martha Stewart, The Ultimate Merger and The Apprentice U.K.
