McDreamy needs a new bachelor pad! Less than a month after stunning the TV world by announcing his decision to leave ABC’s hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, Patrick Dempsey is making another exit: He’s unloading his $14.5 million Frank Gehry-designed estate in Malibu. Dempsey, 46, lived in the property with his ex-wife, Jillian Dempsey, from whom he split in January after 15 years of marriage.
The three bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom estate sits on three acres overlooking the ocean, and Zillow reports that the backyard of Dempsey’s home features a fire pit, rock climbing wall, and pizza oven perfect for outdoor dining and parties.
During their time there, the actor’s family also created an outdoor oasis for their many pets, including chickens, miniature donkeys, rabbits, goats, pigs, and their three dogs.
“The exterior’s simplicity appealed to me, and the inside felt very expansive and calming. Everywhere you looked there was something visually pleasing,” Dempsey told Architectural Digest in 2014 after he and his then-wife renovated the 5,000-square-foot home to make it more family-friendly for their three children, daughter Talula, and twin sons Darby and Sullivan.
Jessica Biel and Lea Michele‘s stylist, Estee Stanley, decorated the home with Dempsey’s ex, who maintained a sculpture studio on the home’s mezzanine level.
In Jillian’s divorce filing, the makeup artist seeks spousal support and joint custody of their children. The couple did not have a prenup.
Prior to his official departure from Grey‘s in April, Dempsey was said to be having a tough go on the drama’s set. “Patrick has been acting like a diva and has clashed with [creator Shonda Rhimes]. She suspended him for a while, and the word on set is that he isn’t coming back full time,” a source told Page Six. “Given all the past problems with Katherine Heigl and Isaiah Washington, there is little tolerance on the show for troublesome talent.” Dempsey’s rep, however, told Us Weekly the story wasn’t true.
