Beauty and the bump! Blake Lively, who is pregnant with her second child, attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala 2016 on Monday, May 2, wearing a Burberry dress that was both fashion-forward and bump-flattering. Sounds like a bit of a challenge for a designer, right? Not if you’re Burberry’s Christopher Bailey.

“Blake looks incredible this evening,” Bailey, who serves as the British label’s chief creative and chief executive officer, told Vogue at the gala. “She radiates confidence and grace. Designing her dress was great fun.”

He even had a little help from Lively, who shares her daughter James, 16 months, with her husband, Ryan Reynolds. “She gets involved in the creation and design process, and that’s very inspiring,” he shared. “We loved the idea of blending intricate handcrafted techniques with highly technical fabrics. The result is truly one of a kind — a gem, just like Blake!”
Indeed, Lively’s silk organza dress stood out in a sea of gorgeous styles, thanks to its romantic hue, corset-style bodice and Watteau train with hand-sewn petal details. Rose gold Lorraine Schwartz danglers with diamonds and coral added just the right amount of glitz to the ensemble.
