Yvette Nicole Brown set her sights on Usher during season 4 premiere party for The Voice in Hollywood March 20. While chatting with Us Weekly on the red carpet, the Community star bolted — mid-interview! — to chat up the new mentor.
"To do a successful stalk you have to cage your prey," Brown joked before greeting the multiplatinum singer by the venue's entrance. When she returned to Us, the 41-year-old actress was visibly excited by their encounter. "He touched my arm! Usher just asked how I was!" she said. "I told him I'm fine! We had our moment! The stalk is on!"
Half-joking, she asked a pool of reporters, "Did anyone get that on camera? No? It's okay." Brown added that this was "the first time" she's ever met the 34-year-old "Scream" singer. "He's so cute!" she raved. "Did you guys see him in his little red shoes?"
If Brown were a contestant on The Voice, she'd pick Usher over Shakira, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine — but not for the reasons one might think. "He has discovered a superstar. He has made a superstar," she said, referencing Usher's protege, Justin Bieber. "So far he is the only of the four that has done it."
Shelton, 36, would be Brown's backup choice, "because he really nurtures and he takes his people on tour with him and stuff," she added. "I've watched the show from the very beginning! I love this show!"
The Voice returns Monday, March 25, at 8 p.m EST on NBC. Community airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on the same network.
