Here comes the bride — with flawless makeup to boot! Hiring a glam squad for your wedding day may sound tempting — and we’re not knocking it. But for those who want to DIY their own bridal beauty, celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff has a universally flattering (and red carpet-worthy!) look that’s a cinch to do.

“You don’t want anything too trendy, because the last thing anyone wants is to look at a picture and see a time and date stamp,” Dubroff exclusively told Us Weekly at a bridal makeup master class at the Pronovias flagship store in NYC.
What a woman does want is to look her most beautiful for that moment in her life, the makeup artist, who also works with Dakota Johnson and Kristen Stewart, emphasized. “Timelessness over trends!” she said. Think Kate Winslet. “She never does anything tricky or trendy on the red carpet. She just looks polished, like a beautiful version of herself,” Dubroff noted.
To enhance your own natural beauty at your wedding (or any special occasion), try this classic but glamorous look, crafted by Dubroff.

To start, even out your complexion with your usual foundation and concealer. (Dubroff prefers to use Chanel foundation.)
Sephora Collection Colorful Waterproof Eyeliner 24 HR Wear, $12, sephora.com; Chanel Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eye Shadow in Mystere, $61, chanel.com; Nars Soft Touch Shadow Eye Pencil in Silver Factory, $25, sears.com
Then, define the eyes with the waterproof (and tear-proof!) black liner of your choice (left) and swipe the lids with a matte medium-gray eye shadow (center).
After that, add Nars Soft Touch Shadow Eye Pencil in Silver Factory (right) below the crease. The glitter in the shade will catch the light in the subtlest of ways, adding a touch of glamour to your smoky eye. Finish with lots of mascara.
Laura Mercier Creme Cheek Color in Blaze, $26, lauramercier.com; Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in Mademoiselle, $37, chanel.com
With the drama on your eyes, keep the rest light and sweet. For the porcelain-skinned bride (as noted in the face chart), dab Laura Mercier Creme Cheek Color in Blaze (left) on the apples of your cheeks for a natural flush. Finish with a rose-hued lipstick — Dubroff suggests Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in Mademoiselle (right).
Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Spiced Cider, $26, lauramercier.com; Chanel Rouge Allure Intense Long-Wear Lip Colour in Captivante, $36, chanel.com; Sephora Collection’s Colorful Eyeshadow in Smoke Signal, $5, sephora.com
For olive skin tones, swap out the rosy cheeks and lips for a soft brick shade (left and center). Keep the gray shadow, but go darker — closer to a pewter (right) — to ensure your peepers pop.

CoverGirl truBlend Blush in Deep Mauve, $10, ulta.com; Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Beware, $19, urbandecay.com; Nars Audacious Lipstick in Rich Berry, $32, sephora.com
For darker skin tones, Dubroff recommends a stronger (“yet still sheer!”) bordeaux or blackberry blush (left) and lipstick (right). But instead of slate eyes with a silver flash, “I would switch to coppers and bronzes,” she said — the warmer, the better (center).
And yet, if you would still rather leave your bridal beauty to the professionals, Dubroff has a suggestion when finding the right person for you. “Just like for a red carpet, the makeup artist is the last person who’s touching you before you’re making an entrance,” she shared. “So you want to feel really safe and comfortable. And then obviously like what they do as an art form. But a huge piece is safety.”
