Dakota Johnson

Dakota Johnson is an actress best known for her role as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades film series. Dakota is the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith and the granddaughter of Tippi Hedren. She was raised between Colorado and California, she was exposed to Hollywood from an early age. She attended the Aspen Community School and later transferred to New Roads School, choosing to pursue acting full time after graduating.

Dakota began her career with a minor role alongside her mother in Crazy in Alabama in 1999. She steadily built her résumé with parts in films like The Social Network (2010) before landing her breakthrough role in Fifty Shades of Grey in 2015. The film’s commercial success propelled her to international fame and led to two sequels, Fifty Shades Darker (2017) and Fifty Shades Freed (2018).

Following the franchise, Johnson took on a range of roles in projects including Suspiria (2018), Bad Times at the El Royale (2018) and The Lost Daughter (2021), expanding her work beyond mainstream blockbusters. She also boasts directing and producing credits on films like Loser Baby (2024), as well as producing credits on films like Splitsville (2025).

The actress has previously been romantically linked to stars like Noah Gersh and Matthew Hitt. She was in a long-term relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin from 2017 to 2025. She later moved on with singer Role Model.
