Hey, Hil! The cast of Scandal freaked out when they were greeted by a very special visitor on set: Hillary Clinton. The democratic presidential hopeful dropped by Shonda Rhimes‘ world this week.
“A good friend came by set today. Proud to say… #imwithher,” Kerry Washington captioned an Instagram photo of Clinton, 68, shaking hands with the crew on Tuesday, February 23. In a second pic, she repeated: “#imwithher.” (#imwithher is the hashtag for Clinton supporters.)
Washington has been in Clinton’s corner for years. The two previously did a Q&A at Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters in July 2014. “I’m very thrilled. I’m excited for her, and I’m sure I’ll be hitting the stump trail,” Washington told Entertainment Tonight in April 2015.
Washington’s costars were just as ecstatic about rubbing shoulders with Clinton, aka their new gladiator. Scott Foley even snagged a selfie with the former Secretary of State and Tony Goldwyn, who plays President Fitzgerald on the ABC drama.
“So, this happened while I was directing tonight,” Foley, 43, wrote via Instagram on Monday. “No big deal. #imwithher.”
Darby Stanchfield and Katie Lowes squeezed in some time with Clinton, too. “Wow! Look who stopped by the set of #Scandal tonight!” Stanchfield, 44, wrote.
“#ImWithHer. Literally,” Lowes, 34, added with an American flag emoji. “She was right there! @HillaryClinton, thanks for visiting!”
