Ethan Slater is an actor, singer and writer known for portraying SpongeBob SquarePants in the Broadway show SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical, a performance that earned him critical acclaim and multiple award nominations, including a Tony nod for Best Actor in a Musical. In 2014, he graduated from Vassar College with a bachelor of arts in drama.

After his Broadway success, Slater took on film roles, playing Boq in the movie musical Wicked (2024) alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. A sequel is set to premiere in 2025.

In 2018, Slater married his high school sweetheart Lilly Jay, and they welcomed their son in August 2022. In 2023, Slater filed for divorce following reports of a romance with Grande, which began after her separation from then-husband Dalton Gomez. Slater and Grande’s relationship was confirmed in July 2023.
