Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake Gyllenhaal is an American actor known for his roles in Brokeback Mountain, Donnie Darko and Nightcrawler. Born in Los Angeles to director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner, he graduated from Harvard-Westlake School in 1998 and briefly attended Columbia University before leaving to focus on acting.

Gyllenhaal made his film debut in City Slickers (1991) and later gained attention for his role in October Sky (1999). His breakthrough came in 2001 with the cult hit Donnie Darko, in which he played the titular role. He went on to earn critical acclaim for his role as Jack Twist in Brokeback Mountain (2005), which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

His film credits include Jarhead (2005), Southpaw (2015), Okja (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). In 2024, he starred in Road House, a remake of the 1989 cult classic, and he joined the cast of Apple TV+’s Presumed Innocent that same year. He has also performed on Broadway in shows such as Sunday in the Park with George and Sea Wall/A Life, which earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Play.

Gyllenhaal has been linked to several high-profile relationships, including with Kirsten Dunst, Reese Witherspoon, Taylor Swift and Alyssa Miller. He began dating French model Jeanne Cadieu in 2018, and the couple made their red carpet debut in 2021.
