About

Phil Robertson was a professional hunter best known for starring on the reality TV show Duck Dynasty. Phil grew up in Louisiana, graduating from Louisiana Tech University with a master’s degree in education. After teaching for years, Robertson focused on being a professional hunter and businessman, creating Duck Commander with his family.

Phil gained fame in 2012 when he began starring on A&E’s Duck Dynasty with three of his sons, Willie Robertson, Jase Robertson and Jep Robertson. As the patriarch of the family, Phil was a main character alongside his brother, Si, and his wife, Miss Kay.

In 2013, he was briefly suspended from the show after making controversial and homophobic comments during a GQ interview. He was reinstated in December of that year after he insisted he would “never incite or encourage hate.” Duck Dynasty ended after 11 seasons in 2017.

He went on to cohost the podcast “Unashamed With the Robertson Family” alongside his sons beginning in 2019. During a December 2024 episode, it was announced that he was in the “early stages” of Alzheimer’s Disease and would no longer be on the show.

The Louisiana native married Marsha “Miss Kay” Carroway in 1966. The couple share sons Willie, Jase, Jep and Al. In May 2020, Phil learned that he had a daughter, Phyllis, from an affair he had in the ‘70s.

Phil died on May 25, 2025 following his battle with Alzheimers.
