Pierce Brosnan is an Irish actor and producer best known for playing James Bond and starring in The Thomas Crown Affair, Mamma Mia! and The Son. Brosnan was raised by relatives in Ireland and later moved to London, England to live with his mother. He began studying acting at the Drama Centre London and began a stage career shortly before making his on screen debut.

Brosnan first gained recognition in the U.S. for his lead role as Remington Steele on the NBC series Remington Steele, which ran from 1982 to 1987. The role brought him international fame and eventually led to his casting as James Bond in 1995’s GoldenEye.

Brosnan went on to portray Bond in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999) and Die Another Day (2002). He also starred in Dante’s Peak (1997), The Matador (2005), Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010), The November Man (2014) and Black Adam (2022). He played Sam Carmichael in Mamma Mia! (2008) and its sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) and appeared in the AMC series The Son from 2017 to 2019.

Brosnan married actress Cassandra Harris in 1980 and adopted her two children, Charlotte (1971-2013) and Christopher (born in 1972), before they had son Sean (born in 1983). Harris died in 1991. He married journalist Keely Shaye Smith in 2001 and the pair share sons Dylan (born in 1997) and Paris (born in 2001).
