The Olympic Games can be exhausting … just ask Simone Biles! After winning four gold medals and one bronze in Rio de Janeiro, the 19-year-old gymnast took a well-earned nap on the plane ride home — and teammate Aly Raisman couldn’t help but tease her for it.
“Miss @Simone_Biles fell asleep before we took off. WHO’S THE GRANDMA NOW GUYS?” the U.S. women’s gymnastics team captain, 22, quipped in an Instagram post on Monday, August 22.
In the accompanying pic, Biles is seen resting her eyes and cuddling up to a pillow during the long flight back to the United States.
This isn’t the first time the Team USA stars have poked fun at each other for sleeping. In November 2014, Raisman shared an Instagram shot of herself lying in bed as Biles put a lavender blanket on top of her pal. “Gonna miss dis (@simonebiles tucking me in at night),” the athlete captioned the post at the time.
And in October 2015, Raisman posted a screenshot of her text message conversation with Biles on Twitter. “Omg you’re so loud. I can only hear you … Whisper,” the six-time Olympic medalist texted Biles, who responded, “Go to sleep grandma.”
“When I tell @Simone_Biles to be quiet she calls me ‘grandma,’” Raisman captioned the screenshot.

As the Olympians were gearing up for 2016 Summer Games earlier this year, the running joke came up once again when Raisman told Us Weekly: “Simone likes to call me grandma and Laurie [Hernandez] calls me mama sometimes. Everyone always jokes because I’m the oldest.”
“Everyone just says I’m the grandma because I like to sleep a lot,” she continued on July 10. “I nap during the day, and then all of my friends are going out on Saturday night and I’m so happy with a cup of tea in bed at like 7:30. I just love it. I think I’m always so tired from training. I’m sure when I finish gymnastics I’ll be able to go out and have fun, but now I can’t even stay up past 10:30.”
