Aly Raisman (born Alexandra Rose Raisman) is a retired Olympic artistic gymnast and author. Raisman began gymnastics at 18 months old and began training under coaches Mihai and Sylvie Brestyan at age 10. She began competing in elite level competitions in 2009 and managed to establish herself as a strong competitor internationally within a year.

The gymnast won bronze at the 2009 National Championships and went on to compete at the Pan American Championships in Brazil, marking her international debut. She brought home gold with the American team.

After placing third overall at the 2012 Olympic trials, Raisman was named to the 2012 Olympic gymnastics team alongside Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Kyla Ross and Jordan Wieber. She was named captain of the team, known as the “Fierce Five,” and led them to victory in London, ultimately bringing home gold for America.

The Olympian participated in her second summer games in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, alongside Douglas, Simone Biles, Madison Kocian and Laurie Hernandez. Known as “The Final Five,” Raisman led the team to gold once again and won silver in the individual all-around competition. She announced her retirement from the sport in 2020.

In 2021, the athlete announced a clothing line collaboration with Aerie called Offline by Aerie x Aly Raisman.

Her newfound fame allowed her to make a number of TV appearances, including competing on season 16 of Dancing With the Stars, in which she competed with Mark Ballas and ultimately placed fourth.

In 2017, she penned her novel Fierce: How Competing For Myself Changed Everything. She released the children’s book From My Head to My Toes in 2024.

Raisman dated Bachelor Colton Underwood from 2016 to 2017.
