Eric Johnson

Born September 15, 1979 in Needham, Mass., Eric Johnson pursued his football dreams by playing wide receiver at Yale University.

In 2001 Johnson made his way to the NFL in the seventh round of the draft. He was picked by the San Francisco 49ers to play tight end. He played with the team from 2001-2006, but was unable to play during the 2003 and 2005 seasons due to injuries.

Johnson signed with the New Orleans’ Saints in 2007. He re-signed with them to play the following year, but was let go due to complications from an ankle injury.

In 2010, Johnson filed for divorce from his first wife, stylist Keri Johnson. Later that year, he began dating singer and reality star Jessica Simpson. The couple announced their engagement on November 11, 2010 and married in July of 2014. The couple have three children together, daughters Maxwell and Birdie, and son Ace.

Us Weekly confirmed in November 2024 that Simpson and Johnson were “living separately.” Simpson announced on January 13, 2025 that the pair had called it quits after 10 years of marriage.
