Never better! Hilary Duff announced her split from husband Mike Comrie last January, but big sister Haylie Duff has yet to notice a change to the family’s dynamic. The Real Girl’s Kitchen food blogger admitted during the Step Up Inspiration Awards on Friday, May 30, that the former NHL player is around all the time despite the separation.
“You know, it’s funny. It’s like, it’s not that weird. I think maybe we all think it’s a lot weirder than it really is. But we love Mike, and he’s still so much a part of our family,” Duff, 29, told reporters at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.
“And I might see Mike actually more than I see Hilary which is weird. But yeah, I think they’re doing great,” she continued. “And they’re just taking their time. And they’re young—so they’re not like putting stress to figure out which way it’s going to go.”
Haylie does have a point: Hilary, 26, and Comrie, 33, have appeared especially amicable since splitting five months ago. In between Duff working on a new album, the actress and Comrie have been photographed several times together, including times at the park with their 2-year-old son Luca. (Last month, the mom told Us at the ASPCA Cocktail Party in Beverly Hills that she and Comrie still “care a lot about each other.”)
In the meantime, another Duff wedding is on the way. Back in April, Haylie announced she’s engaged to T-shirt business owner Matt Rosenberg.
“I mean, it like still shocks me. It’s not even normal. I still call him my boyfriend, and he, every once in a while, is like, ‘Babe, I’m your fiancé.’ I’m like, ‘Okay, okay, I got it,'” she gushed Friday night. “His dad actually [designed the engagement ring] with him which is so sweet,” she added. “He like sent over drawings to some of my girlfriends and my sister.”
Duff revealed she’s ready to start wedding planning within the next week, but her younger sister hasn’t given any advice just yet.
“We have not talked about anything. And yesterday, she and Luca came over for lunch, and she was like, ‘So where are we doing this bachelorette party?’ I was like, ‘Oh my god. That’s all you want to talk about, you sicko!'” she joked. “But yeah, we’ll get into it. She’s going to help me for sure, and I want everyone involved in it.”
