About

Mike Comrie (born Michael William Comrie) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. Comrie played ice hockey throughout his childhood and went on to play for the University of Michigan. Following his college career, the athlete was drafted in the 1999 National Hockey League entry draft as a player for the Edmonton Oilers.

After a brief stint in junior hockey with the Kootenay Ice, Comrie made his official Oilers debut in 2000. He spent a total of 13 years with the NHL, playing for the Philadelphia Flyers, Phoenix Coyotes, Ottawa Senators and New York Islanders before returning to the Oilers in 2009 with a one-year contract for $1.125 million.

He signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins the following season, but he spent much of the season sidelined with a hip injury. After undergoing a third hip surgery in 2012, Comrie made the decision to retire from the sport, no longer able to keep up with the physical demands.

Comrie wed singer-actress Hilary Duff on August 14, 2010. Their son, Luca Cruz, was born in March 2012. The pair split in 2014 and finalized their divorce two years later.
