Buckle up, Beliebers! Justin Bieber will be roasted in his very own Comedy Central special, a source confirms to Us Weekly, after Ryan Seacrest first revealed the news on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
The insider tells Us that the world-famous pop star, 20, will be roasted by the network in a March 7 taping, and that Bieber will be present for the festivities.
In fact, the “Baby” singer has been wanting to take part in his own special for ages. “Justin has been asking us for years to roast him,” Comedy Central told Seacrest on Tuesday. “So we kept telling him to create some more material, and we’re thrilled he listened.”
Shortly after the news of the roast was announced, Bieber took to Twitter, writing, “For years I have wanted Comedy Central to roast me. They said only if I provided them w/ more material so for a year now I have worked hard. Finally after all that hard work for my 21st bday it’s happening. Thanks @RyanSeacrest & @ComedyCentral for the announcement. Let’s do it :).”
Roasters and writers will have plenty of recent subject matter to choose from. Within the last month, the “Backpack” crooner has garnered lots of attention for his Calvin Klein campaign, which Us exclusively revealed on Jan. 6.
The buzz-making underwear ads were parodied this past weekend on Saturday Night Live by Kate McKinnon and Cecily Strong, who hilariously reenacted Bieber’s video with Dutch model Lara Stone.
“I’m not supposed to drink, but I do,” McKinnon said, emulating Bieber in his campaign attire. She also joked: “Yo. My pee-pee’s in there.”
Ever the good sport, Bieber responded to SNL‘s viral skit on Sunday, Jan. 18.
@nbcsnl well played. Lol.
