Ready for kickoff! Lady Gaga performed the national anthem prior to the start of Super Bowl 50 on Sunday, February 7.
The 29-year-old singer, who is also scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards and Oscars this month, took the field in a red-sequined, two-piece suit with matching eyeshadow to deliver an emotional version of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Midway through the performance, the “Applause” singer started to tear up, but didn’t let that stop her from delivering a beautiful rendition of the anthem.
Earlier in the day, Gaga teased her Little Monsters with a preview of her patriotic Gucci heels, which were custom-made by the brand’s creative designer, Alessandro Michele.
“Red White and Sparkly Blue,” the American Horror Story: Hotel actress captioned the post on Instagram. “Thank you Alessandro for my beautiful custom outfit tonight! #gucci”
Gaga was accompanied by Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin, who presented the anthem in American Sign Language.
Earlier this week, the “Born This Way” singer shared her excitement about performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” in an interview with NFL.com.
“I’ve always wanted to sing the national anthem at a major sporting event since I was a little girl, and for it to be the Super Bowl, it is the ultimate … ” Gaga trailed off, before calling the performance “one of the highest honors” of her career thus far.

As for her favorite rendition of the patriotic tune? “For me, it was Whitney Houston,” she said of the late singer’s stirring performance at the 1991 Super Bowl. “When I was little, I used to stand at the top of my staircase and sing along with her version. At home, the more I would sing it, the more my dad would say, ‘You’re getting pretty good, kid.’ So to be here now and to sing it to America, it’s just wonderful.”

Last year, Broadway star Idina Menzel took to the Super Bowl stage to perform the national anthem in Glendale, Arizona.
