Winning one family member over at a time. Rory Kennedy commented to Us Weekly at the Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award on Tuesday, Dec. 16, about Patrick Schwarzenegger dating Miley Cyrus.
"I'm happy for them," Kennedy, 46, said of Maria Shriver's son and the pop artist. (Rory, daughter of the late Bobby Kennedy, and Shriver, daughter of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, are first cousins.)
She had no further comment about whether or not she thought Cyrus is too wild for the University of Southern California student.
Us Weekly broke the news last month that Cyrus, 22, and Schwarzenegger, 21, were dating. Soon after, the two were seen making out at a USC Trojans game. Their romance has been in the works for some time, according to Schwarzenegger, who named Cyrus as his longtime crush in a 2011 interview with Details. Arnold Schwarzenegger's son unabashedly told the mag then that his "eye" was and has always been "set on Miley Cyrus."
The pair most recently set off for Art Basel in Miami together, where they partied (rather hard!) alongside Hollywood's elite including Paris Hilton, Leonardo DiCaprio, Eva Longoria, and more.
Interestingly enough, this isn't Rory Kennedy's first time remarking about a high-profile pop star dating someone within the Kennedy clan.
In 2012, the documentary filmmaker told Us that she "couldn't be more thrilled" that her nephew Conor Kennedy was dating Taylor Swift. "I think she's fantastic," Rory said then. "She's a good friend of our family and we all adore her and love her. It's great to have her around."
