The claws are retracting. MTV's Teen Wolf is saying goodbye after its upcoming sixth season, with the cast and creator announcing the news during the show's panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, July 21.
Creator Jeff Davis broke the news at the start of the presentation, pointing out that he typically announces at the event every year that the show has gotten renewed.
"This season is a little different, but no less reason to celebrate," Davis told the crowd. "We're going to hit 100 episodes at the end of season 6, and we've decided that 100 episodes is going to be it."
"These next 20 episodes will be the final season of Teen Wolf," he continued. "I'm going to start to cry, I think."
Star Tyler Posey, who has played alpha wolf Scott McCall since the series launched in June 2011, told fans that he is grateful for their support over the years.
"This is it — this is the regime that we built," he said. "I just want to let everybody know from everybody here's heart that this has been the biggest movement that we've ever been a part of. I do crazy s‑‑t like [pouring water on myself at the beginning of the panel] because I want to make you guys smile and laugh. You mean so much to me."
"I love each and every single one of you, and want to come hug every single one of you," Posey, 24, continued.
Davis pointed out that costar Dylan O'Brien ("Stiles" Stilinski) wrote a note to say "how bittersweet it was." The showrunner explained that O'Brien, 24, couldn't attend the panel because "he's still at home recuperating" following his injury from an accident in March on the set of his film The Maze Runner: The Death Cure.
Teen Wolf season 6 premieres on MTV in November.
