Golden Bachelor

The Golden Bachelor premiered in September 2023 as a spinoff of The Bachelor franchise and captivated audiences as a “senior” Bachelor looks for love in a pool of age-appropriate contestants. Similar to The Bachelor format, the star goes on a series of one-on-one and group dates with the women each week before narrowing down his picks in a rose ceremony. Those who are not awarded roses are eliminated from the show. The Golden Bachelor star is expected to propose to his final contestant at the end of each season.

Jesse Palmer hosts the show and was along for the ride when Indiana native Gerry Turner made history as the first-ever Golden Bachelor star. He was 71 years old at the start of his journey and proposed to Theresa Nist during the season 1 finale in November 2023. Their wedding was televised on ABC in January 2024, but by April of that year, Gerry and Theresa had announced their divorce. The show’s second season premiered in September 2025, with retired NFL player Mel Owens starring as the show’s second Golden Bachelor.

The Golden Bachelor franchise is set to expand with The Golden Bachelorette. Both shows will join the ranks of fellow Bachelor spinoff shows, including The Bachelorette, Bachelor Pad, Bachelor in Paradise, Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise, The Bachelor Winter Games, Bachelor Live and The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart.
