Modern Family

The ABC sitcom Modern Family follows three generations of a family living in suburban California. The show aired on ABC from 2009 to 2020 and depicts the drama the modern-day family faces in day-to-day life.

The main cast features the families of Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill), Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen) and Mitchell Pritchett (Jesse Tyler Ferguson). Jay is married to Gloria (Sofia Vergara) and they have stepson Manny (Rico Rodriguez) and son Joe (born in season 4 and played by Jeremy Maguire). Claire is married to Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell) and have three kids together: daughters Haley (Sarah Hyland) and Alex (Ariel Winter), along with son Luke (Nolan Gould). Mitchell and husband Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) have two adopted children: daughter Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) and son Rexford.

It earned 22 Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. Modern Family was named the top television program of the year by the American Film Institute four times and won a Peabody Award in 2010.
