About
Shifting Gears is an ABC sitcom written by Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully. The show premiered in 2025 and chronicles the life of a widower whose estranged daughter and two grandchildren move in with him following a divorce.
Viewers follow auto restoration shop owner Matt (Tim Allen) as he attempts to reconcile with his daughter Riley (Kat Dennings) as the two share a roof with his grandchildren Carter (Maxwell Simkins) and Georgia (Barrett Margolis). The show’s first season debuted in January 2025 on ABC, Hulu and Disney+. It was renewed for a second season, which began in October of the same year.
