Kat Dennings

Kat Dennings (given name Katherine Litwack) began her acting career early, appearing in commercials as a child. Raised in a creative environment with her father, a molecular pharmacologist, and her mother, a poet, she was homeschooled and graduated high school by age 14. Moving to Los Angeles with her family, she pursued acting full-time, starting with her television debut in 2000 on Sex and the City, where she played a teenager organizing a lavish bat mitzvah.

Dennings went on to gain recognition and landed roles in Raise Your Voice (2004), Big Momma’s House 2 (2006) and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist (2008). Her portrayal in the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls (2011-2017) made her a household name. She also drew widespread acclaim in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Darcy Lewis in the Thor movies and WandaVision.

In 2024, Dennings was cast to star in the ABC sitcom Shifting Gears alongside Tim Allen, which premiered in January 2025. Dennings portrays the estranged daughter of Allen’s character, Matt, a widowed father. They find themselves living together and navigating the challenge of repairing their relationship.

In November 2023, Dennings married singer and songwriter Andrew W.K. Prior to finding love with the musician, Dennings dated her 2 Broke Girls costar Nick Zano from 2011 to 2014 and singer Josh Groban from 2014 to 2016. Dennings and Andrew W.K. first started dating in 2021 after meeting earlier that year.
