Brad Pitt is scheduled to walk the red carpet at a Los Angeles fan event for his new movie, Allied, on Wednesday, November 9, a source tells Us Weekly. The appearance will be his first since estranged wife Angelina Jolie filed for divorce on September 19.
The Oscar-winning producer, 52, stars in Allied, a World War II romantic drama, alongside French actress Marion Cotillard. The 1940s-set film, which hits theaters on Wednesday, November 23, follows an intelligence officer’s romance with a French resistance fighter who, as it turns out, may be a Nazi spy.
Prior to Wednesday’s event, Pitt quietly resurfaced in New York on Monday, November 7, at a private screening for the film Moonlight, which he produced. He attended alongside close pal Julia Roberts, his costar in films including The Mexican and Ocean’s Eleven.
The news of the actor’s Allied red carpet appearance comes on the heels of his recent divorce drama with Jolie, 41. The actress’ rep told Us on Monday that the former power couple recently reached an agreement over the custody of their six children: Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.
“We can confirm that childcare professionals have encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides over a week ago,” Jolie’s rep told Us in a statement. “In accordance with this agreement, the six children will stay in their mother’s custody, and the children will continue therapeutic visits with their father. We are not in a position to discuss the details. We believe that all sides are committed to healing the family and ask for your consideration during this difficult time.”
A source close to Pitt, meanwhile, earlier told Us that he will continue to fight for joint legal and physical custody of the children, saying, “His [November 4 custody] filing shows that he is going to stand firm on sharing custody of the kids. It’s a clear sign that he’s going to fight for his right for the kids.”
The new agreement has not been filed in the pair’s divorce, and it did not mention the FBI investigation of the September plane incident, in which Pitt allegedly got into an altercation with son Maddox. (A source close to Pitt previously told Us the “abuse suggestions are inaccurate,” and that Pitt is cooperating with authorities.)
Jolie has had physical custody of the kids since the split, but Pitt briefly met with them (sans Maddox) on October 8. Eleven days later, he reunited with Maddox.
