Paris Jackson has reconnected with her birth mother, Debbie Rowe, after the former nurse was diagnosed with breast cancer, Us Weekly has confirmed.
As previously reported, Rowe, 57, who was married to the late Michael Jackson from 1996 to 1999, is currently undergoing treatment for the disease.
Paris’ relationship with her mom has been on the rocks for more than a year, but they recently reconnected after news of Rowe’s diagnosis broke.
“They have stayed in touch but just haven’t been as close,” a source tells Us Weekly.
According to TMZ, the 18-year-old scion texted her mother saying, “I love you,” and the duo plan to meet up after Rowe undergoes surgery.
Rowe and Michael met while she was working at Dr. Arnold Klein’s dermatology practice, where he was being treated for his skin condition, vitiligo. Following his 1996 divorce from first wife, Lisa Marie Presley, Michael told Rowe that he wanted to become a father and she offered to help.
During their three-year marriage, she gave birth to son Prince, now 19, and Paris. After the pair divorced, she signed over all parental rights to him.
After the King of Pop — who was also the father of son Blanket, 14 — died of cardiac arrest induced by propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication in June 2009, Rowe was granted supervised visitation rights to their children. She recently attended Paris’ 18th birthday party in April, where the teen was photographed kissing her boyfriend, Michael Snoddy.
Rowe got engaged to Neverland Ranch videographer and music producer Marc Schaffel in April 2014.
