Amy Sedaris

Amy Sedaris is an American actress, comedian and writer best known for her work on Strangers with Candy, BoJack Horseman and At Home with Amy Sedaris. Sedaris was born in Endicott, New York, and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. She graduated from Jesse O. Sanderson High School and later moved to Chicago, where she became involved with the Second City comedy troupe.

Sedaris began her career in sketch comedy and theater, gaining early attention with the play One Woman Shoe, which she cowrote with her brother David Sedaris. She rose to fame in 1999 as cocreator and star of Comedy Central’s Strangers with Candy, where she played Jerri Blank. She later became known for her distinctive voice work and guest appearances on shows like Sex and the City, The Middle and The Mandalorian.

In 2014, she began voicing Princess Carolyn in BoJack Horseman, and she later cocreated and starred in At Home with Amy Sedaris, which ran for three seasons on TruTV and received multiple Emmy nominations. Her film work includes roles in Maid in Manhattan (2002), Elf (2003), Chef (2014) and Ghosted (2023). She is also an author and published her New York Times bestseller, I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence, in 2006.

Sedaris was in a long-term relationship with comedy partner Paul Dinello, but after ending things amicably, she expressed her desire to remain single.
