Billy Ray Cyrus

Before being known as Miley Cyrus’ dad, Billy Ray Cyrus rose to fame in his own right.

The Grammy-nominated country music singer created waves with his 1992 hit “Achy Breaky Heart.” The album the single was attached to, Some Gave All, went on to sell 20 million copies worldwide. Billy Ray, who has released more than 15 solo albums, has also had a solid acting career, starring in Doc from 2001 to 2004 before joining Miley on her popular Disney series, Hannah Montana, in 2005.

Billy Ray appeared on the fourth season of Dancing With the Stars. He and his pro partner, Karina Smirnoff, were the seventh couple to be eliminated that season. Billy Ray’s musical comeback continued with the formation of supergroup Brother Clyde, in which he has collaborated with country staples Phil Vassar and Jeffrey Steele plus rocker John Waite.

In 2019, Billy Ray won two Grammy Awards for his “Old Town Road” duet with rapper Lil Nas X.

He married Leticia “Tish” Cyrus (née Finley) in 1992, going on to welcome children Miley, Braison and Noah. Upon their wedding, Billy Ray adopted Tish’s two children, Trace and Brandi, from a previous relationship. He also shares son Christopher with a past partner. He was also previously married to songwriter Cindy Smith from 1986 to 1991.

Tish filed for divorce from Billy Ray in June 2013, only to call off their divorce one month later. She refiled nine years later, stating in her petition that they had been separated since 2020.

After Billy Ray and Tish settled their divorce later in 2022, he moved on with Australian singer Firerose. They wed in October 2023 but separated seven months later. Their divorce was finalized in August 2024. In April 2025, he and Elizabeth Hurley confirmed they were dating.
