Brian Cox is an award-winning actor best known for his portrayal of Logan Roy on Succession. Cox was born and raised in a working class family in Dundee, Scotland. He attended the Dundee Repertory Theatre as a teenager, fostering a love for acting and later studying at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, laying the foundation for a decades-long career on stage and screen.

Cox began his career performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theatre before transitioning to film and television. He gained early recognition for portraying Hannibal Lecter in Manhunter (1986), and established an early presence on television with appearances on shows such as Crown Court and Doomwatch. He later starred in several major films including Braveheart (1995), The Bourne Identity (2002), Adaptation. (2002), Troy (2004) and The Escapist (2008).

In 2018, Cox joined the cast of the HBO drama Succession, where his performance as Logan Roy earned him a Primetime Emmy nomination and Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. He remained on the show until it ended in 2023.

Cox has been married three times. He was wed to Lilian Monroe-Carr from 1966 to 1967. He shares two children, Alan (born in 1968) and Margaret (born in 1976), with his second wife, Caroline Burt, whom he divorced in 1986. He later married Nicole Ansari-Cox in 2002, and the couple share two sons, Orson Jonathan (born in 2002) and Torin Kamran (born in 2004).
