Chris Rock

Chris Rock got his start in stand-up comedy before being cast on Saturday Night Live in 1990. He left the show in 1993 and went on to release several award-winning comedy specials, including Chris Rock: Bring the Pain (1997). Rock created and starred on his own late-night talk show on HBO, The Chris Rock Show, for five seasons from 1997 to 2000. The comedian then expanded into film, earning roles in New Jack City (1991), Dogma (1999) and Nurse Betty (2000).

Rock began writing, directing and producing in the early 2000s, working on several films and a comedy series based on his own childhood, Everybody Hates Chris. Rock voices Marty in the DreamWorks’ Madagascar film franchise. His other film credits include Grown Ups (2010), What to Expect While You’re Expecting (2012), Top Five (2014) and Spiral (2021), and he starred on the fourth season of FX’s Fargo in 2020.

Rock was married to Malaak Compton-Rock from 1996 to 2016, and the exes share daughters Lola and Zahra. Chris sparked a romance with actress Lake Bell in 2022.
