Geena Davis

Geena Davis is an Academy Award-winning actress. Davis grew up in Wareham, Massachusetts, and developed an early interest in music and acting. She learned both piano and flute as a child and went on to attend Boston University, but did not receive enough credits to graduate. After leaving school, she began working as a model before pivoting to acting.

Davis made her film debut in 1982’s Tootsie. She gained wider recognition with her role in The Fly (1986) and later appeared in The Accidental Tourist (1989). The latter earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She further established herself as mainstream talent with lead roles in Beetlejuice (1988), Thelma & Louise (1991), A League of Their Own (1992) and The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996).

The actress has also had a prolific career in television and boasts recurring roles on shows such as Buffalo Bill, Sara and Grey’s Anatomy. She was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama for her role as President Mackenzie Allen on Commander in Chief.

In 2024, Davis acted alongside Channing Tatum in the psychological thriller Blink Twice.

Davis has been married four times. She was married to Richard Emmolo from 1982 to 1983, then to actor Jeff Goldblum from 1987 to 1990. Following their split, she moved on with director Renny Harlin, and the pair finalized their divorce in 1998. In 2001, she married surgeon Reza Jarrahy. The couple welcomed daughter Alizeh and twin sons Kaiis and Kian before separating in 2017.
