Harrison Ford

Harrison Ford is an American actor best known for his iconic roles as Han Solo in Star Wars and Indiana Jones in the Indiana Jones franchise. Ford was born in Chicago and attended Ripon College in Wisconsin, where he studied philosophy but left just shy of graduating.

Ford began his career in Hollywood with small TV roles in the 1960s before turning to carpentry to support his family. His big break came when George Lucas cast him in American Graffiti (1973). Lucas went on to tap him for the role of Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977), which launched Ford into superstardom. He solidified his status as a leading man with the first Indiana Jones movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), directed by Steven Spielberg.

Throughout his decades-long career, Ford has starred in major box-office hits, including Blade Runner (1982), The Fugitive (1993), Air Force One (1997), Witness (1985) and The Mosquito Coast (1986). He received an Academy Award nomination for Witness and won a Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes in 2002. Later in his career, he appeared in projects such as Ender’s Game (2013), The Call of the Wild (2020) and Captain America: Brave New World (2025). In 2022, he joined the cast of 1923 as Jacob Dutton, and he signed on to Apple TV+’s Shrinking the following year.

Ford married Mary Marquardt in 1964, and the couple welcomed sons Benjamin (born in 1966) and Willard (born in 1969) before divorcing in 1979. He was later wed to screenwriter Melissa Mathison from 1983 to 2004, and they share children Malcolm (born in 1987) and Georgia (born in 1990). In 2010, Ford married actress Calista Flockhart, whom he began dating in 2002. He is the adoptive father of her son, Liam (born in 2001).
